Scope and Environment of the Project
The objective of the project is to organize and coordinate the necessary actions for its successful implementation, focusing on training 12,000 beneficiaries to acquire knowledge and skills related to their role in the mediation process.
With Law 4640/2019, a new framework for Mediation in civil and commercial disputes was established, introducing the Mandatory Initial Session (MIS) for certain family disputes and cases exceeding €30,000 in value, which would otherwise be subject to the Ordinary Procedure before Single-Member and Multi-Member Courts of First Instance.
Mediation is an alternative dispute resolution method, institutionalized in Greece since 2010, complementing the traditional justice system. It applies to disputes where a judge is not necessarily required, as parties can resolve their issues through mutual agreement.
Mediation is a structured process, enabling disputing parties to seek a compromise through a mutually accepted procedure, facilitated by a neutral, specially trained third party—the “Accredited Mediator.”
It is a flexible dispute resolution process, conducted in a confidential environment, where the involved parties retain full control over reaching an agreement.
